School's almost over

Fourteen days and counting, this year of school ends in merely two weeks’ worth of school days. It comes so quickly, now, when at the beginning of the year it was faraway goals. Hopefully these last days will be more enjoyable, but it’s unlikely, with finals upcoming.

The summer’ll be fun, so I’ll wait for that; until then, time to pull out the chem book (for the first time in a while) and review… again and again and again. Fun.

Time to do homework

So here I am, at 11:30 PM, with a pile of homework in front of me due Monday. Maybe I shouldn’t be starting this late, but I’ve had other things to do…

Stanford ProCo was fun, but we didn’t do very well in the speed or algorithmic round. It was an experience, to be sure, and next year we will do much better, of course. If you’ve got any programming experience, you should go too =).

The rest of the weekend so far has been mostly Math and Chem. My father seems to believe that the best way to study for chem honors is to pull out a chem AP book and start learning thermodynamics from there… At least the chem AP book has real equations in it, so I can kind of see his point.

I’ve also tried ( and failed ) to fly a model R/C helicopter. It generally crashes within 5 seconds of liftoff, so theres a ways to go there. Its much harder than you would expect.

Time to do hw…

A2PI, rebuilt

After the previous iteration of A2PI, I realized that the locomotion system and its chassis were rather badly suited for actual operation on carpet, which floors much of my house. I completely reconstructed the system, replacing many of its parts with new ones.

I’m not quite done with it yet – the LCD isn’t actually connected to anything, and the scan sensor and the line sensor are not even attached yet, much less programmed.

As of now, A2PI will not crash into anything wider than 4″; however, A2PI does not yet know how to drive in a straight line. The code for doing so will be implemented eventually.

AP Comp Sci

The test itself was not much of a thing to talk about, being that it was easier than Peck’s normal tests and the ones in the Barrons book. However, events afterward weren’t so nice:

After the AP test, I went with a bunch of other people to Chipotle (my first time xD). While the food was decent, I accidentally left my AP booklet there! Fortunately, since I left earlier than the others, I got it back in the afternoon after a quick trip to a certain unnamed friend’s house. A close call, but a stroke of luck (directed by God, of course) saved my test tomorrow.
